Free Email Newsletter Software to take you to No. 1
Free email newsletter software is available, but should you use it? Let’s take a look.
There are a number of free email newsletter software choices available. While they can be pretty “bare bones,” compared to something like, say, AWeber or GetResponse, you might be surprised what you can get.
“Free” isn’t always bad, although you must remember the old adage, “Nothing in this world is really free.” That’s a fact. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean, “User pays.” Free software is often created as a “hook,” to get users interested in something else, or as desirable content to bring advertising dollars from other companies.
In fact, there are some choices available that have been around for a long time with some very loyal fans.
Number one among those who offer free email newsletter software has to be MailChimp. (If you think I’m wrong, please tell us in the comments, below.)

MailChimp lets you have up to 1000 subscribers on its free plan. That’s more than most people ever have! (Sad, isn’t it?)
It also lets you use their free email newsletter software to send up to 6,000 emails per month. That’s phenomenal, when you think about it. That means that you can send up to 6 updates to 1000 subscribers, every single month.
MailChimp also helps to manage your list, mails, signups, bounces, unsubscribes, etc., just like the paid email newsletter software. You have the freedom to add your own logo and photos with your email, using software provided by MailChimp.
With the ability to use HTML takes, you can create gorgeous, high quality emails to market your business as professionally as any others.
Of course, MailChimp also gives statistics and reports that show you opened, bounced and forwarded emails, helping you to keep your list clean, and to show you who your best customers are.
MailChimp really is the cream of the crop for free email newsletter software. Furthermore, when your subscriber base approaches 1000, you can easily upgrade and carry on, seamlessly. By that time, the cost of upgrading will be completely covered by your list. The cost to go up to unlimited subscribers starts at only $10 per month! After that, it is calculated according to your list size, meaning it will always pay for itself.
Other Free Email Newsletter Software
There are others who offer free email newsletter software. These include CleverReach®, who offer only 250 subscribers and 1000 emails per month and Mailjet, who allows unlimited contacts and up to 6000 emails per month. (Stay tuned for more on Mailjet. They are real contenders against MailChimp. The only reason there is not more about them in this article is because we have yet to test them. If you use them or have an honest opinion on them, please share your comments below.)
Another pretty cool offering of free email newsletter software is Sendicate. They won the W3 Award for best web application, and have also been named in the Webby Awards. And no wonder, when you look at their site. Of all the companies who offer free email newsletter software, Sendicate has, in this writer’s opinion, the nicest looking site at first glance.
Sendicate offers their service for free for up to 500 subscribers and up to 1000 emails per month. That is definitely worth considering if you’re just starting on your list. The upgrades they offer as you grow are also pretty competitive.
SendinBlue offers something really intriguing in free email newsletter software. They offer unlimited subscribers and 300 emails per day, completely free. That’s pretty amazing. That means that you could potentially have 9000 subscribers and be able to send out a monthly newsletter to all of them, at absolutely no cost!
This is another we have yet to test. Please stay tuned!
Concluding thoughts for today
When it comes to free email newsletter software, you need to be careful. There will likely always be someone offering something for free with an upgrade option. The danger is in losing your list if they go bust, so always backup your list to your own storage. That step can be the difference between an annoying inconvenience and a devastating loss. (Yes, I have experienced that!)
Only one of these companies providing free email newsletter software has been round for a long time. That, of course, is MailChimp. Please take this into consideration. This article is not an endorsement of any of these companies. It is for educational purposes, only. That includes a smattering of my own experience, which has been considerable.
